Cutting-edge Artwork and Inspiring Events Bring Art Lovers to Santa Fe

The festivities continued during the second day of Art Santa Fe. Art lovers and collectors streamed into the Santa Fe Community Convention Center to see—and purchase—world-class paintings, glassworks, sculptures, and more from a wide range of innovative exhibiting artists, dealers, and publishers from across the globe.

Attendees were wowed as Spotlight Artist Alfred Addo of Alfaddo Art Studio transformed sawdust into sculpture and dimensional artwork right in front of their eyes, and children loved listening to artist and author Kelly Fischer read from her newest children’s book.

A highlight of the day was “Traditions & Innovations of Icheon Ceramic Arts,” an Art Lab featuring Boksik Ji, Joungoo Ham, Changwan Hong, Changho Ahn, master artists who are known as living cultural treasures of Korea. Attendees were treated to live demonstrations from Boksik Ji and Changwan Hong, who in both wheel throwing and carving demonstrations, created stunning artwork right in front of the crowd.

“I’d like to introduce Korean artists to American collectors who appreciate and care about Asian art and artists—not just traditional art,” Gary Kim told the Santa Fe New Mexican. Kim is a 2017 Art Santa Fe Spotlight Artist and the owner of the local G.K Fine Art Gallery, which sponsored the Art Lab. “A lot of the artists we’ve invited here are high-end artists that American collectors have never seen before.”
