6:00 p.m.: MEET THE ARTIST
Live Demonstration: Julie Schumer / Julie Schumer Fine Art, Booth 512
Meet and watch Julie Schumer, an award-winning artist and one of the [PLATFORM] Artist of the Year finalists. A lifelong abstract expressionist who was often chastised by teachers for her non-realist work, she let her practical nature assert itself and became a lawyer instead of an artist. In 2000, Schumer reconnected with an old friend, artist James Koskinas. He sensed her long-suppressed desire to create art and brought her several pieces of wood, brushes, and acrylic paint and said, “Paint.” Schumer hasn’t stopped painting since. She and Koskinas joined forces and moved to Santa Fe in 2002, where they paint companionably together in their studio.

6:30 p.m.: MEET THE ARTIST
Live Demonstration: Gabriel Collazo and Angela Brooks / The Collazo Collection, Booth 404
Meet Gabriel Collazo and Angela Brooks, the artist couple that makes the Collazo Collection come to life! Collazo and Brooks were selected as 2017 Spotlight Artists for their unique approach and amazing collective contemporary art. Watch as they work together to create the next piece in the collection, hear their story, and learn the inspiration behind working together on each artistic creation.

6:30 p.m.: MEET THE ARTIST
Juan Luis Perez / Contemporary Art Projects USA, Booth 205
Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1970, Juan Luis Perez is a self-taught artist who has lived all over the world, including Spain, France, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States. Having immersed himself in many different cultures, Perez has a unique perspective on the human experience and strives to explore people’s commonalities and differences in his work. You’ll enjoy meeting this exciting artist and exploring the adventure depicted in his works.

7:30 p.m.: MEET THE ARTIST
Live Demonstration: Gary Kim / GK Fine Art, Booth 111
Whether capturing the towering beauty of aspen trees, finding humanity in the ordinary in his figurative works, or taking a meta approach in his thought-provoking “Art in Art” series, 2017 Spotlight Artist Gary Kim leaves a lasting impression with his artwork. Inspired by John Singer Sargent’s masterful paintings, Kim imparts that same tradition of layers of paint to achieve the depth and beauty of his subjects. Watch as he creates his next masterwork!

7:30 p.m.: MEET THE ARTIST
Siri Hollander / Siri Hollander Studio, Booth 309
Meet sculpture artist Siri Hollander. Born in New York and raised by a family of artists in Andalusia, Spain, Hollander began sculpting at the age of 17. Her connection to the horses that surrounded her in her youth informed her unique sculptural style, leading her to become a master of three-dimensional equine images. She combines steel and cement in her works, creating a trademark texture that, when cast in bronze, brings them to life, whether they’re grand, life-size pieces or smaller tabletop sculptures.
